Vegetable growers in Kenya are slowly embracing the netting technology: a technology that was developed to control pests with the aim of significantly reducing the quantities of pesticides. Silvia Kuria is one of the small-scale vegetable growers in Limuru, Kiambu county, who has started benefiting from the technology. She grows atleast 22 varieties of vegetables including French beans, tomatoes, cabbages, kales, peas, both in the net house and in the open. The farmer, who specializes in organic farming attests that the technology has introduced her to a whole new perspective in farming. For example, she recently harvested her first batch of French beans and discovered that the cycle of harvest in a net house takes two to three weeks.
